  What Is Ducting In HVAC  Introduction Ducts are an enclosed entity which are used to transfer conditioned air (either hot or cold) from air cooling medium ( which can be AHU , VAV, FCU. etc) to the occupied spaces. Ducts are used when air needs to be transfered at long distances. Types of ducts Ducts are classified on 2 basis  1.on the basis of shape.  2. On the basis of material.  Both classifications have their own advantages.  1. On the basis of shape There are 3 types of duct on shape basis.  1.Rectanglular duct This are used where we have space constraint i.e less space available between the ceiling and false ceiling.
