What Is Ducting In HVAC

What Is Ducting In HVAC  Introduction Ducts are an enclosed entity which are used to transfer conditioned air (either hot or cold) from air cooling medium ( which can be AHU , VAV, FCU. etc) to the occupied spaces. Ducts are used when air needs to be transfered at long distances. Types of ducts Ducts are classified on 2 basis  1.on the basis of shape.  2. On the basis of material.  Both classifications have their own advantages.  1. On the basis of shape There are 3 types of duct on shape basis.  1.Rectanglular duct This are used where we have space constraint i.e less space available between the ceiling and false ceiling. The width and height can be adjusted according to the aspect ratio.  Plus they are used inside the false ceiling so the aesthetic view of the space or building is not altered.  As the size of the duct increases there is a need to install stiffner to make it sturdy.  There can be a leakage problem in this types. So to avoid it sealents are used.  Noise created in t

Working of AHU (Air Handling Unit)

Working of AHU (Air Handling Unit) Introduction Air conditioning is a process used to maintain the temperature, humidity, and human comfort for the occupants in the room, it works on air refrigeration cycle. Air Handling Unit (AHU) is the equipment which is used to achieve the above parameters and is used when a large space is to be maintained at an isolated comfort zone from the outer atmospheric temperature. The cooler air from the AHU is then transferred to the desired location with the help of ducts.   Parts of AHU AHU mainly has 3 section. 1.        Filter section 2.        Coil section 3.        Blower section Components of AHU ·          Damper ·          Pre filter ·          Bag filter ·          Cooling coil ·          Heating coil ·          Blower fan ·          Damper all the above-mentioned components are placed in order.   Working of AHU The fresh air from outside and 20% return air from the room get mix in the mixing chamber.
